Diversity Meets The Dufus Project

If you decide to run a dictatorship you ideally want a certain kind of population to work with. What you're not looking for are clued-up, educated people with a sense of  self-importance. You don't want confident sorts who stop and think when you give them an order. So around the year 2000, anyone hoping to run a dictatorship in Britain or the USA would have had to make changes. Equipped with a very different, much inferior population, tyranny would be relatively simple. So...

You can get a tyranny going much faster if your adult population is mainly stupid, confused and dependent. Such people will put their fath in the existing regime -so long as it delivers a minimum of support- and will even vote to keep it going, rather than gamble on surviving outside the system. In a normal western country, there are two ways to assemble that population.

First, you can import millions of new, penniless, obedient adults, and give them all the vote, just to get the stupidity ball rolling. By the time they are awarded citizenship -after a long period of free housing, free meals and health-care- they will happily vote for more of the same, because the alternative is the gutters of Pakistan or Somalia.

Second, instead of educating western-born schoolchildren you confuse them -by focussing on abstract, unprovable nonsense about climate-change and gender, for example. By the time they are old enough to vote, they will have no idea what's really going on. Indoctrinated by teachers as ignorant as themselves, they will be easily recruited with snappy-sounding slogans and childish political fantasies about universal equality in a multi-culti non-binary paradise.

This would be the happy hunting ground where diversity meets the Dufus Project. A straightforward plan which could -in just a generation or two- replace a relatively smart, thoughtful public with a mass of complacent, easily-satisfied sheep.

"A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude."  - Aldous Huxley

To keep the Dufus Project rolling, a smart move would be stopping people organising into  groups where they might discuss ideas different from yours. In a dream regime, people would be fragmented, kept apart- as far as possible- including lots of people living completely alone. In a perfect tyranny, people would only ever find your ideas being discussed, no matter where they turned, be it in school, at college or work, on the radio, TV, social media or websites, Youtube, wherever. In other words, your smart system would be like the first year of Covid lockdown, only permanent.

For kings / emperors /dictators, the oldest trick in the book is the emergency. Two thousand years ago tyrants would threaten their peasants with "the angry sun god" (solar eclipse) or similar existential dangers. Ignorance was key.

In the 21st century, however, children are not educated about the oldest tricks, let alone historical government hoaxes from recent times. They are instead taught to prioritise whatever is happening today, right now, this second -both at school and by social media. Anything percieved as "old" (parents, grandparents, last week, history, wisdom) is viewed as "lame" or "boring".  In this way, the goldfish/child acquires only the ideas and priorities of the state, as opposed to those of their family and friends.

FEAR IS IGNORANCE

To demonstrate this theory in practice, the manufactured pandemic hysteria of 2020 was remarkably successful among both kids and young adults who would, just twenty or thirty years ago, have been much less willing to go along with such a procession of mad restrictions and absurd claims. Threatened with a "deadly uncontrollable plague" the novices of 2020 had little in the way of  common sense to offset the propaganda, and almost no experience of challenging authority.

Freed from the discipline of attending school/college they were not at all inclined to protest. All their information sources : school/college/TV/internet/social media were united in delivering the same dark narrative of infection and/or death. Uninterested in historical parallels (the mere idea was alien) the smartphone generation simply swallowed the invitation to panic, kicked back and went aimlessly browsing on the safe, disease-free landscape of the welcoming internet. To be frank, that's where most of them still are-three years later.

Like Covid-19 itself, the beauty of the Dufus Project lies in its ability to infect people through digital devices. Those who always detested smartphones -and I am at the rusty tip of that spear- made a bad mistake by underestimating the power of digital entrapment. I dismissed the early addicts as being just that  minority of midwit losers who were always destined for capture by some attractive bauble.

There are many reasons why a billion humans are now helplessly bonded to these devices, but it's way too late to blow that whistle. Nobody cares why the slab of plastic wields such power; they're too busy plugging in. The real battle -perhaps the only hope for our societies- is to make digital divorce not only possible but popular.

A NUMBER OF POINTS

Although the meteoric rise of the smartphone has been accompanied by a dramatic fall in IQ, this alarming trend was effectively concealed by the steadily increasing number of young adults awarded degrees. From the late 20th century on, this created an illusion of competence among graduates that did not translate into real-world ability. As many of us suspected, the majority of degrees were being bought, not earned.

Researchers at Frontiers in Psychology have not just clarified the problem but accurately measured the decline; the results are not pretty.

"According to a widespread belief, the average IQ of university students is 115 to 130 IQ points, that is, substantially higher than the average IQ of the general population. ...we traced the origin of this belief to obsolete intelligence data collected in 1940s and 1950s when university education was the privilege of a few. Examination of more recent IQ data indicate that IQ of university students and university graduates dropped to the average of the general population. ... We conducted a meta-analysis of the mean IQ scores of college and university students samples tested with Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale between 1939 and 2022. RESULTS: The results show that the average IQ of undergraduate students today is a mere 102 points."

These are not bitter old-timers moaning about how great things used to be. The three authors are young, cutting-edge researchers doing proper, diligent work. Are they simply uncovering the trail of the the Dufus Project? Does anyone seriously believe the smartphone generation is smarter

DIGITALIS

It's a law of commerce that synthetic is more profitable than organic; cheap replicas make bigger bucks. Once government becomes the tool of commerce, this law is enthusiastically applied to the dirty business of social engineering. Replacing all real-world experiences with digital alternatives must be  the logical goal of every ambitious western dictatorship. To this end, state-sponsored mainstream media -i.e. all commercial media- must obsess on the promotion of screen-based entertainment to the exclusion of everything else. The relentless hyping of Artificial Intelligence is the most egregious example. Stripped of its push-button glamour, AI is just pattern-recognotion, and the "apps" nothing more than the latest must-have accessories for the drab business of faking reality. If successful, the adoption of an entirely digital lifestyle will become normalised. For too many young dupes, it already has.

The logical conclusion of the Dufus Project will be a new generation so completely wedded to the remotely-controlled digital universe and its dopamine reward program that genuine physical experiences will be rejected as too complex and unreliable. These individuals will be docile, sedentary, unlikely to exercise, travel or participate in physical communal activities. Adult existence will be indistinguishable from standard Gen-Z juvenile bedroom-indulgence; life as an endless sequence of pointless masturbatory distractions guaranteed to maintain a state of near-constant hypnosis. It's not as if such cabbages cannot be exploited, since the ability to consume has already been reduced to the prod of a flabby fingertip.

It is not concidental that this hive of adult-infants will have near-zero connection with or admiration for their family, community or nation state, its past or its culture. Born into a system designed to isolate and separate, their first and last loyalty will be to the state and its commercial products. Embedded in their ignorance, trained into unthinking dependence, they will effortlessy merge with the newly-imported "diverse" horde who are necessarily in thrall to a system they too admire but cannot hope to understand.

Inevitably, diversity will meet dufus under the welcoming umbrella of state support; where migrants and morons combine in the ideal scenario for functional dictatorship.

Tomorrow's people, you might call them. If the population I have described sounds like a lowing herd of quasi-human cattle, bear in mind I am merely speculating what might happen in a modern western country under a deliberately engineered digital-dictatorship. If that is something we wish to avoid, we can all, individually and collectively, start pushing in the opposite direction. Sooner rather than later.
